The National Association of Realtors said Tuesday it has reached an agreement with the company that runs Realtor.com on the use of the term "realtor" in Web addresses outside the U.S.
NAR sued Move Inc. last year because the company argued the agreement that allows the use of "realtor" in Realtor.com also applies to Web addresses in other countries. The association recently acquired rights to the new top-level domain ".realtor" that it plans to license to outside parties.
Both organizations announced reaching an agreement on the use of .realtor and NAR was dropping the lawsuit as a result. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The groups noted that the media company News Corp. acquired Move Inc. only a few days after NAR filed its lawsuit, but did not say whether the acquisition was a factor in reaching their agreement. http://prn.to/1MzyeoH
